Veggie patch in the desert
She brought me a safe place to express heal and connect. This work was my process into consciously choosing my voice, my body and my creativity. As a woman, as an artist and as a mother. Talking about domestic violence is so scary and so many opinions are ready to be thrown your way when you do share. And then there is guilt… the most difficult one to heal from. But in music, in works of art, it is safe. You give it away, and others are free to interpret or do with it whatever they need. I am so glad more women are using their voice to speak up. That music, dance, film and interviews are being made to create awareness and to give insight. Because really… you can’t truly understand something you haven’t experienced or been close to. Hoping you have warm and loving people nearby. People who see, hear, and listen without judgement. Veggie Patch in the Desert was released as a tryptich album in 2015 and 2016.
I am grateful for all she has meant.
